African Mahogany
There are many Mahogany species in Africa. Khaya Mahogany, (Khaya ivorensis) is found in the tropical forests of Ivory Coast, Ghana, Nigeria, and Madagascar. Khaya Mahogany is light pink to a medium or reddish brown in color. Khaya Mahogany has rich tonal qualities and is used in guitars. It is superior in strength to Sapele Mahogany, another African Mahogany used in acoustic guitar making.
